Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support our Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and collaborating with other teams, this role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a proactive, process-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • General Accounting:
·       Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
·       Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
·       Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts on a regular basis.
·       Support the preparation of financial statements and other management reports.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
·       Process vendor invoices, ensure proper approval, and prepare payments.
·       Manage employee expense reimbursements, including corporate credit card reconciliations.
·       Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Payroll and Tax Compliance:
·       Support payroll processing and ensure accurate payroll tax reporting.
·       Maintain accurate employee records related to compensation and benefits.
·       Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
·       Assist in preparing financial reports for internal stakeholders.
·       Support the analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Audit Support:
·       Support the preparation of year-end books for audit purposes.
·       Assist in coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
  • Additional Duties:
·       Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and other teams on special projects and process improvements.
·       Provide administrative support as needed to ensure smooth accounting operations.



Qualifications
  • Fluency in Korean (spoken and written) is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in the biotech/pharma industry is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (or other accounting systems) and Excel (advanced functions preferred).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic startup environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Prior experience working in a startup or rapidly growing company.


Location:
Full-time, on-site position at PineTree Therapeutics, Cambridge, MA.
